QoR Watercolors by Golden Paints
QoR retains the best qualities of traditional watercolors while expanding the range and versatility of each color. QoR's exclusive binder provides more pigment in every brushstroke, offering a strength, range and versatility unmatched in the history of watercolors.
The unique QoR formulation accentuates the luminosity and brilliance of pigments even after drying. It provides the subtlety, transparency and flow of a great watercolor, with colors that have as much vibrancy and the fire as the best oil paint or acrylic.
The exceptional color strength of QoR Watercolor is achieved through the use of a unique binder called Aquazol®. Aquazol is an acid free, water-soluble synthetic resin that provides great flexibility and resistance to cracking. It can hold much greater amounts of pigment than the same amount of gum Arabic. Conservators use Aquazol an adhesive, consolidant, and painting medium so it is extremely reliable and archival.
Choose from 83 high-intensity colors, including three Iridescent colors. The addition of QoR Mediums and Grounds can increase gloss, improve flow or wetting and provide different textured surfaces, to expand the creative opportunities in watercolor painting.
QoR Mediums help extend and enhance the creative range and control of watercolors, whether the objective is modulating colors through lifting with Lift Aid™, extending colors to their most distant point with Watercolor Medium, or unleashing the flow of colors with Synthetic Ox Gal.
A general purpose medium used to increase the transparency and flow of watercolors. When Watercolor Medium is used in larger amounts it also increases the gloss and saturation of colors
Synthetic Ox Gall
A wetting agent that improves the flow of watercolors. 2-5 drops added to water makes paints easier to apply and blend when creating washes. Wetting paper with a water and Synthetic Ox Gal mixture assists in creating clean, uniform washes and improves wetting on hard sized papers.
A fluid medium for water color surfaces to improve the lifting of watercolors. Lift Aid may be applied to paper before painting or between washes
Where our mediums carry forward traditional painting techniques QoR Grounds bring a totally new wave of expression to watercolors. Watercolor Ground quickly transforms nearly any surface into an absorbent bright white painting surface similar to hot-press papers, while Cold Press Ground and Light Dimensional Ground transform surfaces with texture ranging from toothy cold-press style surfaces to lustrous modeled surfaces that you design.
A fluid acrylic primer that creates a porous surface similar to hot press paper. Dries to an absorbent, lightfast and flexible surface that can withstand repeated lifting and scrubbing. It can be used to return stained areas to an absorbent white surface
Light Dimensional Ground
A white, lightweight paste that spreads like frosting, Light Dimensional Ground can be applied smooth and thinly, or built up to create ridges, peaks and other interesting textures. The extremely absorbent surface allows washes to spread quickly, while accommodating fine lines and detail as well. Dropping color into lightly wetted areas creates beautiful blooms
Cold Press Ground
Cold Press Ground creates an absorbent, cool white surface with the appearance of rough handmade paper. A smoother finish can also be achieved by skimming with a wet palette knife during application. Ideal when a rough texture is desired for emphasizing dry brush techniques.
