Art Class "Watercolor Portraits" with Marcia Hodges

Basic drawing techniques will be covered to render portraits using the Loomis Method. Marcia will review the creation of form and character using light and shadow. Prior drawing experience preferred. Students should bring 2 photos to work from with good light and shadow apparent. (For instance, a photo taken with the light source on the top left of the subject creating shadows on the right side of the face.)
Level 2: Intermediate - Assumes the student has some experience in the medium. Reviews basic techniques and offers individual assistance but moves at a faster pace.
Supplies Needed:
- Watercolor paper, 8" x 10" or 9" x 12"
- #2 pencil or mechanical pencil
- Gum eraser
- Ruler
- Paper towels
- Scale divider
- Watercolor brushes, round, size #10 and #6
Paints:
- Phthalo Blue
- Cerulean Blue
- Yellow Ochre
- Cadmium Yellow Medium
- Cadmium Red OR Scarlet Lake
- Quinacridone Rose
UPDATED CANCELLATION POLICY: Cancellations made 14 days or more in advance of the workshop will receive a refund equal to 50% of the cost of the class. Cancellations made within 14 days of the event will not receive a refund. This will help ensure that the instructor will be paid for their time and effort of teaching the workshop.
