"Painting Abstract Flowers in Acrylic" with Madison Faile

The object of this workshop is to gain an understanding of painting florals in an abstract way and to use this knowledge to fuel your studio practice. Today we will be learning partially from direct observation and imagination. We will also be discussing the French master floral painter Henri Fantin Latour.

1. Break down the form to its basic shape
2. Use the background to cut out the image
3. Create a dynamic and striking abstract floral
4. Let loose and have fun!

   2. Payne’s Gray
   3. Ivory Black
   4. Titanium White
   5. Yellow Ochre
   6. Sap Green
   7. Titan Buff
   8. Raw Sienna
   9. Burnt Umber
   10. Ultramarine Blue
   11. Vermillion or Cadmium Red
   12. Cadmium Yellow Lemon Hue
2. Bristles paint brushes

4. A pad of drawing paper, Strathmore 80 lb, white, 18” x 24”
5. Charcoal, compressed sticks

10. Canvas sizes, no smaller than 10” x 10”, preferably square
11. Golden Light Modeling Paste
12. An open mind and a sense of humor

This class is appropriate for beginners to more experienced painters. Covers basic watercolor painting techniques and provides individual assistance. No prior experience is required.
