Bring more interest to your floral paintings by learning to paint a variety of flower colors and shapes! With extra attention on edges, value, and color temperature, Barbara will cover techniques that will enhance your floral paintings. Students are asked to bring photos of flowers they would like to paint or use photos provided. Barbara will demonstrate and then guide each student individually. Barbara will be using oil paint, but oil AND acrylic painters are welcome.

Level 2: Intermediate - Assumes the student has some experience in the medium. Reviews basic techniques and offers individual assistance but moves at a faster pace.

• CANVAS: I prefer oil-primed linen like Fredrix Oil Primed Linen Panels but bring whatever you like to paint on. If you want to paint a larger canvas (no larger than 16x20), one will be fine. If you paint smaller paintings, you may be able to complete a couple during class (around 8x10, 10x10, 9x12, 12x12, 11x14). Also, please have a small (8x10) inexpensive canvas just to use for exercises.
  
• PAINTS: I prefer Gamblin, Rembrandt and Williamsburg paints, primarily Gamblin.
  • Titanium White

  • Cadmium Yellow Lemon or Light

  • Ultramarine Blue
    
  • Cerulean Blue or King’s Blue (I like King’s Blue)

• BRUSHES: I like Silver Bristlon flats and rounds in a variety of sizes. If you want to paint smaller canvases, have a few small-medium brushes. Medium-large brushes for larger canvas.
• ODORLESS mineral spirits such as Turpenoid or Gamsol & container for it
  
• Sketchbook/paper/pencils (just something to work out compositions and ideas on paper)
