This workshop is designed for watercolor artists seeking to deepen their understanding of color theory and improve their color mixing skills. The workshop includes a color theory refresher; mixing warm, cool, and neutral colors; understanding the characteristics of watercolor pigment (granulation, staining, layering), and value control. Through a blend of demonstrations, hands-on exercises, and guided practice, participants will explore color relationships, learn to achieve vibrant and harmonious mixes, and gain greater confidence in their color choices.
Supplies Needed:
- Pigments (Pam prefers Daniel Smith tubes but you can choose pans or another brand)
- Ultramarine Blue or Warm blue
- Phthalo blue or Cool blue
- Pyrrol Red or Warm red
- Quinacridone Rose or Cool red
- New Gamboge or Warm yellow
- Hansa Yellow Light or Cool yellow
- Number 2 or mechanical pencil
- Kneaded Eraser
- Water cups
- Tissues
- Watercolor Brushes (Rounds in several sizes (10, 12, 6); Quill/Mop, Detail brush)
- Watercolor Paper (cold press, 140 lb or 300 lb; multiple 9x12 sheets )
- Palette with several wells for mixing (Pam prefers the ceramic palettes but you can bring what you have)
- Board and painter’s tape
UPDATED CANCELLATION POLICY: Cancellations made 14 days or more in advance of the event will receive a refund equal to 50% of the cost of the event. Cancellations made within 14 days of the event will not receive a refund. This will help ensure that the instructor will be paid for their time and effort of teaching the event.
