Join local artist Pamela Venz for a beginner-friendly introduction to cyanotype, a striking alternative photographic process that uses UV light to create luminous blue prints. Originally developed by Sir John Herschel in the 19th century, cyanotype replaces traditional silver-based photography with a simple iron salt solution—producing rich, Prussian-blue images with a signature look.
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the fundamentals of the process, explore a bit of its history, and experiment with composition using natural elements, stencils, fibers, and found objects. Using nothing but sunlight, you’ll create a series of one-of-a-kind prints on paper.
You’ll leave with multiple finished pieces—perfect as standalone artworks, collage material, or handmade cards.
All materials are provided. Feel free to bring along leaves, flowers, or other thin, flat objects from home to personalize your prints.
