Mastering the human figure is often considered the pinnacle of art. However, many artists are afraid or too intimidated to work with the human form. This class is aimed at helping break down the figure and make it accessible for any artist. The psychology behind people’s fear of working with the figure will also be explored.

Foundational drawing and gesture will be used for capturing initial human form and movement. If they choose, students can begin translating their work into paint, after the drawing phase. Principles of color and value will be employed as students work towards a completed figurative work. Basic anatomy will also be covered to give students a strong foundational understanding of the human form.

This class works from live models (nude).

Supplies Needed

Optional

acrylic paint: 2fl oz tube or larger (titanium white, raw umber, cadmium red medium, cadmium yellow medium, ultramarine blue)
water container
assortment of paint brushes in multiple sizes - (round, flat, filbert)
paper towels or rags
assortment of stretch canvases or canvas panels (11 x 14 or larger)

UPDATED CANCELLATION POLICY: Cancellations made 14 days or more in advance of the event will receive a refund equal to 50% of the cost of the event. Cancellations made within 14 days of the event will not receive a refund. This will help ensure that the instructor will be paid for their time and effort of teaching the event.
