Explore the vibrant colors and natural shapes of fruit in this four-session watercolor class. Students will learn foundational watercolor techniques such as creating the drawing, wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry approaches, color, blending, and creating texture while painting a variety of fruits from observation and reference images. This class is perfect for beginners or continuing students who want a relaxed, creative way to strengthen their watercolor skills.

Pam Benoit is an award-winning teacher with a lengthy career teaching communication at universities. She has taught watercolor classes at Forstall and Four Seasons Gallery. She loves helping other artists find their joy through watercolors.

Week 1: August 5
- Topic: Creating the drawing; Basic watercolor techniques; Painting process
- Painting Challenge: Pears or Apples
Week 2: August 12
- Topic: Composition
- Painting Challenge: Cherries or Blueberries
Week 3: August 19
- Topic: Tonal Values and Color
- Painting Challenge: Mangoes or Watermelon
Week 4: August 25
- Topic: Creating Textures in Watercolor
- Painting Challenge: Peaches or Oranges

Supplies Needed

	Most Economical	Great Quality
Palette	Plastic or Glass Plate; plastic palette	Multiple palettes with plenty of space for mixing; Choose material you like best
Watercolor paper	140 lb Student grade paper 140 lb. rough paper (4-6 pieces of paper	Various types of paper, formats, and substrates for watercolor; Arches, Fabriano, Saunders Waterford For this class, it would be helpful to have both Cold press AND Rough
Watercolor paints	Student grade paints- can do a set or 3 primaries	Professional paints -Daniel Smith; Choose pan or tubes depending on how you paint
Brushes	Round brush (6 or 8) and a small detail brush	Assortment of types of brushes and sizes
Tissue	Couple of facial tissues	Tissues and paper towels
Kneaded eraser	Faber-Castell	Faber-Castell
Water container	Old plastic cup	Multiple containers
