Join Ron Lewis for a hands-on watercolor workshop designed for all skill levels — from curious beginners to experienced painters. We'll cover essential watercolor techniques, composition, and practical guidance like choosing the best paper for whatever you're working on.

Ron will demo several paintings throughout the session and share his approach to finding strong subject matter and reference material. He'll work from his own photography, and you're welcome to work from your own photos or sketches too. Please no copyrighted material or other artists' paintings.

Feel free to bring both watercolors and acrylics — both are welcome in this class.

• Watercolor Paper: 10x14 or 12x16 Arches watercolor block (acid free) or one to two Pieces Arches cold-pressed watercolor paper, 22x30
• Watercolor Palette
• Brushes
  • Imitation sable, round #2, #8
  • 1” flat wash brush
  • #3 rigger, #3 bristle fan brush
  • ½ inch flat bristle
• Other Supplies
  • Cups for water
  • Pencils
  • Kneaded eraser
  • Paint rags or paper towels
  • If you use watercolor paper, you will need a board large enough to tape the paper to, about 15x22 will do.
• Paints: A set of student-grade tubes, 6-12 in number.
  • Yellow Ochre
  • Burnt Sienna
  • Ultramarine blue
  • Medium Red, Cadmium or other (hue will do)
  • Cadmium orange (hue will do)
  • Hooker’s green
  • Burnt Umber or Sepia
  • Raw Umber
  • Titanium white
  • Black
  • Cadmium Yellow, light (hue will do)
  • Dioxazine Purple
• Optional Paint Colors:
  • Payne’s gray
  • Cerulean blue
  • Thalo blue
• Optional
  • Gum Arabic
  • Masking fluid (I don’t use it)
  • Masking tape
  • Pocket knife (for watercolor)

UPDATED CANCELLATION POLICY: Cancellations made 14 days or more in advance of the event will receive a refund equal to 50% of the cost of the event. Cancellations made within 14 days of the event will not receive a refund. This will help ensure that the instructor will be paid for their time and effort of teaching the event.
